On 11 February 2021, the NATO Science and Technology Organization Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) will host a special virtual press conference with Director Dr Catherine Warner to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Founded by the United Nations (UN) in 2015, this event aims to close the gender gap in STEM fields and bring full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls. During the press conference, Dr Warner will address her personal experiences as a scientist as well as how NATO encourages students, particularly young women, to participate in research fields such as environmental studies, maritime security, and autonomy and underwater robotics
