NATO and national Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms, such as NATO AWACS and USA MPA-P8, tested stealth properties of unmanned underwater vehicles at the sea surface. Tests done within the NATO live trial on ISR Unified Vision on June 2018.
CMRE tested with NATO and national Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities and platforms the stealth properties of Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs). These tests took place during the NATO live trial on ISR Unified Vision 2018 (UV18). CMRE exposed at the sea surface and to these ISR platforms part of the UUVs used during the CMRE scientific sea-trial Nordic Recognized Environmental Picture 2018 (NREP18). Tests took place in the North Atlantic Ocean.
The live vignette run in UV18 during some days of June 2018 was composed of several UV18, CMRE and NREP18 partner assets, such as: NATO AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) and USA MPA-P8 (Maritime Patrol Aircraft) under UV18; NATO RV (Research Vessel) Alliance (CMRE), DEU RV Planet (NREP18 partner) and several underwater gliders (CMRE and NREP18 partners).
Among other tasks, NATO AWACS and USA MPA-P8 were able to test their ISR capabilities for detecting and tracking UUVs at the se surface. Analysis of live vignette results will be done, getting an assessment of the stealth properties of this kind of maritime autonomous assets (UUVs) against current NATO and national ISR capabilities (e.g. Electro-optical, Infrared, Electromagnetic).
